Black Ballad's Most Read Stories of Spring 2023
Since the inception of Black Ballad, we have always attempted to not be defined solely by trending topics, or limit the topics black women can write on. This freedom that black women are rarely afforded in other spaces is a key part of creating a platform that allows us to tell their own stories on their own terms.
However, it is also a peek into the thoughts, feelings, challenges and triumphs black women are experiencing in real time. For many of us, some of these stories will seem familiar - not because we have read or watched them before. But because the origins of these stories are the anecdotes, threads and voicenotes, shared over dinners and groups chats.
This Spring’s stories are no exception. We’ve all seen and been a part of the growing conversation around which cities and countries might make a good new home. Between March & May, we had multiple stories, published and well-received, about New Beginnings - black women travelling domestically or globally to pursue the lives they want and need.
For many of us, life is really lifeing right now and that is showing up prominently in how we approach, react and reflect upon our relationships. Yet, we are trying to figure things out by finding the people and places that allow us to embrace ourselves personally and professionally.
These are the 15 most read stories on Black Ballad published this Spring. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed writing & commissioning them. Click the button below for the full list, or scroll down to get started with a selection of the most read stories.
