Founder's Letter: Do Routines Stop Us Being Spontaneous?

I found myself looking at my goals for 2023 earlier this week. There is something about approaching September that makes you feel like you need to press the reset button or take a look at what needs refreshing in your life. I guess this sharp urge to look at what still needs to be achieved for the rest of the year in late August is a hangover from our school days. September marked a new beginning, so if you were anything like me, the back end of August was spent preparing new goals or understanding what I still needed to work harder on from the previous academic year.

As I looked at my goals for 2023, I saw that one thing I put down was that this year I wanted to have more fun. In terms of fun, it meant trying to plan more date nights, see friends more, and take the time to do some solo spontaneous activities. I think as you get older (well, I speak for myself), the responsibilities and routines of life can often strip out the opportunity and/or desire to create spontaneous fun.
