LayFullStop, P3Lz & Meduulla Are Three Rappers Showing How Diverse The North West Scene Is

The female rap scene in the UK is on the rise – now more than ever. But like with most creative industries, the London-centric bubble can easily distract us from the talent that exists beyond the capital.

Being based in Liverpool, and just a short train journey from Manchester, once you get beyond the cult-like worship of The Beatles or the mass devotion for Oasis, there is no denying that both cities are enriched with music from the black community and, as always, black women are at its core.

Birmingham-born and Manchester-bred, 26-year-old artist LayFullstop is one of these women. Known for her laid-back, jazz and hip-hop-infused sound, combined with her fiery bars and melodic vocals, she provides a distinctly refreshing sound in the current world of music. With influences from Mary J Blige and Missy Elliott, as well as a preference for instrumental Japanese Jazz Funk, it’s clear as to why LayFullstop’s music attracts attention.
