With her voluminous black afro and bold, expressive designs, Imani Evans instantly stands out. The model, content creator and presenter unapologetically wears her style.

“I was raised by a very glamourous woman and some of my best childhood memories are helping her get ready in her sequins, crochets and furs,” Imani said. “My mum had a huge silver-and-gold trunk filled with clothes. When she was busy, I would sneak into it and try things on. I never stopped playing dress-up and that is why my style is so playful today. 

“I dress based on how I’m feeling – no rules, just free-flowing expression. My mum also taught me to be confident in who I am, so embracing my natural afro is a big part of that.”

The shift toward being unmistakable is reflected across popular culture. Doja Cat, for instance, recently shaved her hair and eyebrows, sparking significant online debate. As more celebrities embrace their own styles, it is clear that the era of chasing fleeting trends is over.
