Struggle & Progress: The History And Legacy Of London's Black Radical Movement

Gentrification has altered Notting Hill and Brixton. A two bedroom property in these areas can cost upward of £500,000, but over half a century ago, these two London neighbourhoods were the heartbeat of the black power movement in the UK.

With the exceptions of Notting Hill Carnival and Brixton Market, these areas now bear little resemblance to what they looked like back then, but during the 1960s and 1970s these areas of London were the birthplace of two of the greatest black activist movements the United Kingdom has seen.

Notting Hill and Brixton were buzzing with black radicalism.
