Pride Is Joy: Celebrating Black Queerness In All Its Forms

We can find and live in our joy through a range of ways and whatever brings you joy (as long as you’re not hurting anyone) is valid. I find joy in the little things, like sweet cups of tea, lie ins and Pink Moscato.

I also find joy in the people I love, romance films with Black leads and words of affirmation.

But there’s a specific feeling to the joy you feel when you find your community and your people as a queer person: a solid, safe space to be yourself and express your identity on your own terms.

In fact, and I’ll always say this, there’s a sense of liberation in this feeling, and it’s one that should be highlighted every day of year. I, along with other queer people, am going to do that regardless, but this Pride Month, we’re showcasing and celebrating the beautiful Black people who embody this joy daily.
