Jenny Garrett Coaches High-Performing Black Women & She Has Some Advice For You

Jenny Garrett OBE is an award-winning career coach, author, speaker and someone who can easily be found gallivanting through galleries and other creative spaces. But besides her many talents and career accolades, one thing she wants us to know is that she is also a proud mother who carries St. Lucia and Jamaica deep in her heart and “an extremely proud plantain lover”.

While that alone is relatable enough, we’re here to discuss what she’s learned over her remarkable career as someone who trains and coaches high-performing leaders. She began her journey eighteen years ago, with a leap of faith and friendly encouragement as she took the risk to invest in her coaching career despite her marketing job.

“I recall having a colleague, who’s now a really good friend, come into my office and just say, ‘We’re next!’ – in the success ladder, she meant. But she also asked if I had thought about spicing things up by perhaps training people on the company’s leadership programme.”

At the time, Jenny wasn’t a confident public speaker so she instantly refused. But then the friend suggested coaching because, “People would come into my office but they’d leave motivated, and ready to take action,” she explains.
