Deep breaths, here we go again. Palestine and Israel. Divisive opinions over who the real victims of the decades long conflict are have pushed social media into a United Nations-like security conference of opposition forces.

People are in a rush to find an opinion in order to participate in the debate but, equally, fear being labelled an anti-Semite or terrorist sympathiser. The media is biassed, tensions are high and pressures of a cost of living crisis is making it difficult to navigate through the noise to come to a conclusion that one can be confident in.

Unfortunately these are not good enough reasons to remain ignorant of the situation or shy away from speaking up for people who are unable to advocate for themselves. As global citizens we must remember our obligations to humanity are not merely local, tribal, religious or ethnic – our obligations extend to all people who have been robbed of justice.
