Uncovering What Our Parents Taught Us About Money

When we think about money, and particularly when we think about our personal finance habits, we seldom make the connection back to those early money lessons handed down to us by our parents. This is despite research showing that our money habits are set as early as age 7.  

Are you a hoarder or a spender? A watcher of every penny, or do you only check your account if a payment has been declined? Do you make all the money decisions in your relationship or leave it to your partner? Do you believe that money is hard to come by or that money flows to you? (You can tell I have read The Secret!) 

How do we peel back the layers and uncover what our parents taught us about money? We can start by looking at the money habits we have based on our backgrounds and culture.
