Guest Editor's Letter: Why I Am Trying To Be Better When It Comes To Asking For Help

As the saying goes, if you want something done properly, do it yourself. I’ve always subscribed to that idea. But it wasn’t until recently that I realised how literally I’d taken that advice. And it’s been even less time since I understood how detrimental that solitude has been for my wellbeing.

Rather than encouraging general proactiveness, I chose to take it one step further. From emotional issues to everyday chores, I often try to go it alone for as long as I can before I break, safe in the myth that one is as equipped to deal with me and my duties as I am. Suffice to say, it’s killing me. And, based on the conversations I’ve had with a number of people, I’m sure the same is happening to many others too.
