Ghosting: How To Move On After Being Left On Read

I met a guy through the popular ‘bird app’, Twitter. He followed me first, and because his bio indicated that he was crazy about art as much as I was, I followed him right back. Soon after, we started engaging with each other’s tweets, and when he slid into my DM, we instantly hit it off like old friends.

We texted every day and graduated to calls after he asked for my phone number. Although we were studying in different states, about 20 hours apart, it felt like we lived together. We shared all our time with each other virtually. One day, he confessed that he wanted to be more than just friends; my joy knew no bounds.

Our plans to meet each other always fell through until one day, he excitedly announced during one of our calls that he would be at my school that weekend because some of his friends were graduating there. I was so excited!

Immediately, I started making plans for us and even cancelled my weekend plans. I was going to see my heartthrob, nothing else mattered.

On the day, with my evening dress waiting in my wardrobe, I waited for his call. Hours passed, but nothing. I tried calling him, but he never picked up. Then I went into panic mode. What if something had happened to him?
