How These Black Women Nurture Deep And Lasting Friendships

Relationships are a crucial part of our lives, whether we want them to be or not. It’s human nature to crave companionship and it’s a known fact that we can't do life completely alone.

Recently, I’ve become obsessed with the mechanics of platonic relationships. There’s so much love in friendships and I think it’s sad that people forget that. We should be as invested in platonic relationships as we are in romantic relationships.

Because black women are my favourites, my inspiration for this article came from the stories of four black women – Shekemi, Oreoluwa, Melissa and Kemi. We discussed the transition from unrequited friendships to deep friendships and the lessons that come with it.
