While I was six months pregnant, I found my dream job as a fashion stylist and then I quickly lost my job.

I remember the day I came into work, and we were all sitting in a room - my colleagues, my manager and even the director. There were two other women who were also pregnant at the time.

By the end of the meeting I had been made redundant and this was the most horrible feeling, while pregnant with my first child. This job was one of many ways of being able to save up and prepare for my child’s future and just like that, it was taken from me.

I remember crying for about a week and the pregnancy hormones didn’t help either. After time went on, I got over it and said I needed to figure out what I was going to do. I continued to work freelance as a fashion stylist until I was nine months pregnant. 

In November 2019, I had my baby shower, and this is where the idea for my educational toy brand Little Omo sparked. The night of my baby shower when I got home, I started opening a few of the gifts and one of the presents I opened was a soft toy and some learning Alphabet flashcards.

But as I was going through the pack, I thought, “Where are the black and brown children?”
