Founder's Letter: Why I Wanted Nigeria To Rob This England At The Women's World Cup

Now, I know I don’t need to tell, or rather type this, but there is just something about spending time with black women that is nourishing for the soul. Yesterday, I was in Bristol for Black Ballad's third Brunch and asked myself why haven’t we been to Bristol sooner? There were many topics of conversation from - do you or do you not like Drake, dating, friendships, life in Bristol as a black woman, our dual identities and… football.

Those of us who are Nigerian or British-Nigerian were all adamant that we were supporting Nigeria in tomorrow’s clash against England in the World Cup. For some who may be reading this, it may be a hard battle to choose between home and heritage, head or heart, but for me, it can only be Nigeria I cheer for in the battle of Lionesses vs The Super Falcons.
