Founder's Letter: The Anxiety & Satisfaction Of Starting Your Career Again

Like many of you, I sometimes find myself mindlessly scrolling through social media. One night this week, when I couldn’t sleep, I stumbled across a post about changing your career. It stopped me for a moment — because it reminded me that I’ve been lucky enough to do just that: to change careers and build a second one from scratch.

For those who don’t know, I started my career in journalism: interviewing celebrities (many of whom I wasn’t that interested in), writing about beauty, pop culture and race, all while dreaming of a job at Elle, Glamour or Cosmo. But it wasn’t meant to be. When I realised working full time in a women’s magazine wasn’t going to happen, I had to start an identity transition. So much of who I was and who I thought I would be, was wrapped up in being a journalist.
