I always say I want to challenge myself, to push myself outside my comfort zone – and yet, the reality is that life gets in the way. Outside of work, and constantly having to think on my feet as an entrepreneur, I don’t think I’ve really known what pushing myself outside my comfort zone felt like as an adult.
Yet this week, I did it. On Tuesday morning I jumped on the 7 o’clock train at Waterloo, packet of mango and croissant in hand, and headed to Dorset to push myself beyond my comfort zone.
From 10:30am to roughly 6pm, I had no phone signal as I hiked, abseiled, sat on cliff tops and jumped into the freezing cold sea. I’ll be honest: at the start of the hike, taking in the crisp air and the impossibly blue seas and skies, I felt at ease. But as the walk went on and I started the safety checks to abseil down a cliff hundreds of feet in the air, I felt almost crippled with fear. What if something goes wrong?
