Founder's Letter: Owami Davies & The Constant Need To Be Better By Black Women

This newsletter will be a bit shorter and a little different to the usual Founder’s Letter. I’m going to use this newsletter to bring attention to the silence surrounding the disappearance of Owami Davies.

I’ve resisted writing about her for the past couple of weeks, because the truth is this newsletter would be similar to the letter I wrote about Joy Morgan in 2019. Or what I wrote about Sarah Reed in one of my earliest newsletters in 2016 or more recently a newsletter and article we wrote about when black women go missing or are subjected to violence the world is silent. The loudest white feminists who talk about violence against women in TV appearances, articles or in private conversations stop talking and the police act with little interest or care. The media have started to pick up this story, (but far too late) and I’ve only read or heard Owami Davies name on IG stories or in private conversations I’m having with friends or family members.
