Before I started writing this newsletter, I googled "number 9 symbolic?" Of course, Google had an endless list of suggestions, and the top search declared: "In numerology, 9 is the number of wisdom and experience. As the final numeral, the number 9 symbolises awakening and inner wisdom through life experiences and struggles. 9 represents impressive mental and spiritual lessons."
Nine years of working on Black Ballad have had their fair share of experiences and struggles, but I would like to think that nine years of being blessed enough to lead Black Ballad have also brought me wisdom. When I think of the wisdom that I have acquired on this journey, it has been through talking to other black women. The privilege to work with black women, make them my number one priority in terms of my audience, and talk to you day in and day out in order to be better, presents great learning opportunities. It presents windows of growth and moments of enlightenment.
