Founder's Letter: I Don’t Know What Black History Month Means Anymore

I was on FaceTime to my sister last week and she said: "What does Black History Month even mean?" And you know what? I paused. We spoke about how we used to celebrate Black History Month at school and, on reflection, it was a deep reminder of how the celebrations and reflections of Black British culture have always been a bit lacklustre — and that is putting it mildly.

This year, Black History Month seems to have died a slow death. The celebrations feel muted or rather non-existent. My children's nursery and school seem to be doing smaller-scale nods and acknowledgements to Black History this month and because of how proactive we are and intend to be as parents, I truly don’t have the energy to make a fuss for more from their educators.
