It was either Monday or Tuesday night when my sister-in-law rang me—not to say hello and catch up, although she did, of course, say hello—but to ask if I had heard about Feyi’s Flowers. She then asked if I was going to write about it in tonight’s newsletter. Little did she know I had just told my husband, about 30 seconds before she called, that I might write about Feyi’s Flowers.
In case you’re unaware of what happened and why Feyi’s Flowers has become such a talking point, the founder, Eni Awoyemi, posted a “storytime” video where she explained that the founder of Doughnut Time, a white man, had stolen Feyi’s Flowers’ brand identity for his new flower business, Fond Flowers.
