Founder's Letter: Dream At Your Own Pace

And I can finally exhale.

I can’t thank every single one of you enough for attending the Weekender. I was unsure about doing it again, and in a world ruled by algorithms, it can often feel like you need to be just one thing. That you can only do one thing. And while I am a fan of doing one thing well, black women are not a monolith. We aren’t only our beauty, our careers, our choices when it comes to motherhood, or our financial status—we are all that and more, because we are multifaceted human beings. Our hope is that the variety we gave you this weekend showed you that we understand that black women are not a monolith—and we celebrate that louder than any other brand or platform in Britain.

As you know, this year’s theme was For Black Women Who Dare To Dream. As I closed this year’s Weekender, I said that far too often, black women are asked to shrink—to choose safety over possibility. This weekend was an audacious rejection of that. The Weekender isn’t just a space where dreaming is allowed—it’s celebrated, and it’s what we expect from you.
