Earlier this year, at the height of the Black Lives Matter engagement, I released a video called ‘An Abridged Microlist’. In it, I speak about a range of microaggressions and outright racism I’ve experienced throughout my life. The response was much bigger than I’d anticipated. I received the familiar, “That’s not racism, she needs to toughen up!” comments from white people with St George Cross filters adorning their Facebook profile photos. The messages of support and solidarity, however, massively outweighed the negative.
