Editor's Letter: I Can't Always Be The Confident Black Woman And That's OK

Before I get into this newsletter, I need to say thank you for all the tweets and emails people sent last week. I’m still catching up with emails from February, (insert monkey emoji covering eyes or the emoji face of cries) but I will get round to saying thank you individually to everyone who reached out last week, when I decided to put my health first. It was a reminder of how precious the Black Ballad sisterhood and community is and I am forever grateful for you and your understanding.

A while back, I tweeted that I wanted to write about confidence. Ironically, I’ve been working on this newsletter on and off for a while but didn’t have the confidence to finish it and press publish. I guess there is something nerve-racking about exposing yourself to anyone, those you know personally and those you don’t.
