Editor's Letter: A Lesson From Michelle - Life Isn’t Always Fair, But If You Know Your Strengths, You Can Negotiate

With a giant picture of Michelle Obama’s book cover on the screen, a polished stage and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on stage, who I may say, walked into the auditorium with a confidence that said "I am prepared for this", I knew that this conversation with Michelle Obama would reach far beyond my expectations.

That had been my great worry since I knew that I was going to be in the same room with both Michelle Obama and Chimamanda Adichie; would the conversation deliver? Would they discuss race in America? Would she have something new to say about motherhood and marriage? The truth is, Michelle Obama discussed all of this and more. She spoke openly and with humour about our current monarch Queen Elizabeth II, she was unapologetic in discussing the need for a great education and she was candid when talking about living with grief after losing her father.
