In 2017, Renay Richardson received this exact feedback after working with multi-award-winning author Reni Eddo-Lodge to pitch a podcast series based on Reni’s Sunday Times Bestseller Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race.
As a seasoned podcast producer, Renay knew her idea had legs. She also knew the audio industry and its preference for white male voices and the same, safe (stale) topics.
So she did what any sensible, self-aware person would do.
“I started planning my exit because I knew I never wanted to work for these type of people again,” she recalls.
And so Broccoli Content, the diversity-first podcast-producing powerhouse, was born.
