In June 2020 amidst the global wave of Black Lives Matter protests sparked by George Floyd’s murder, I saw a post on Instagram which blazed with hope.
Sonya Renee Taylor – bestselling author, activist and spoken word poet, posited in her ‘What’s Up Y’all?’ musings that “Blackness is a technology for survival”.
I have turned that phrase over in my mind ever since, wondering what it means, what it looks like and how I can get the newest, upgraded version.
