Five Black Women Over 50 On Life In Portsmouth

Mainstream media often neglects to accurately portray women over 50. These women are usually associated with topics related to anti-ageing or declining health, when in fact this isn’t always their reality. With the Black Women In Britain project, we are changing the narrative and speaking to black women over the age of 50 because we understand the importance of intergenerational conversations and the value it holds. With the black community in city of Portsmouth making up only 1.8%, it was imperative that we speak to five black women over the age of 50 living in the city, and hear about their experiences.
