Unlike some more dubious (read racist) beauty recommendations for Black women that advise against red lipstick or attempt to explain away the lack of darker hues in foundation collections, the lack of marketing or representation for Black women in the self-tan or fake tanning industry is a rather simple one: if you’re already blessed with bountiful amounts of melanin-induced dark skin, why on earth would you buy fake tan?
