I Drove Solo From London To Lagos & This Is What I Learned

Having been born in Nigeria and growing up amid the bustling city life of London, I have always been curious about travelling the world and wanting to explore more. This passion would take me on an extraordinary journey from the heart of Europe to the vibrant streets of Lagos, Nigeria.

The decision to undertake this unforgettable quest was not made lightly. It was a combination of my desire to connect my two homes, inspire black travellers – especially women – to step out of their comfort zones, and challenge myself to do something audacious.

Having visited over 80 countries across the globe, I set myself on a challenging, daring solo adventure, unlike anything a black female traveller has ever done. I decided to drive over 10,000 kilometres from London to Lagos. My planned route gave me the opportunity to visit lesser-frequented places including Mauritania, Western Sahara and Guinea-Bissau, along with my favourites like Gambia. I wanted to shed light and challenge the narrative of travelling within Africa.
