After spending her childhood and adolescence immersed in the Catholic faith, Gifty* left in her late teens to find her own way. But in her early 20s, when she realised there was something missing in her life, she went searching for more.

She tried Hinduism, Buddhism and even Mormonism, exploring every type of religion she could think of. Finally, she accepted the invitation from her brother to go back to church, hoping that if she went just once, he would stop pestering her about it.

“That Sunday, they were talking about the person of Jesus,” Gifty says. “Even in all of my faith journey so far within Catholicism, I had always thought that Jesus was a fictional character.”
