It’s time for our next Black Ballad Book Club, a bi-monthly perk for all of our bookish members!
In our very first BB Book Club, we laughed, gasped & applauded the hot takes after reading and discussing The List by Yomi Adegoke. This time round, we’re going in a very different direction as we discuss Edge of Here by Kelechi Okafor on Thursday 14th October at 7pm.
When Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon says that a new era of sci-fi is upon us – you must listen. Edge of Here is a unique and thought-provoking collection of speculative short stories that challenge us to think deeply about our society as it is now, and where it might be heading. One of the things that struck me most deeply reading Kelechi’s stories is how prescient they feel – which is why I can’t wait for us to get into discussing them.
If you don’t already have the book, please grab a copy from our featured black owned book store for this month, Truman Books, owned by Black Ballad Member, Amanda Truman in Leeds! Or, of course you can go to your preferred book shop.
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday 14th December with a beverage of your choice!
