When we think about black female STEMM heroes, we usually think of African American women like Katherine Johnson, one of the "Hidden Figures” whose calculations were vital to the first, and subsequent, US crewed spaceflights, or Mae Jemison the first black woman to travel to space. We don’t immediately think of Black British women, so I wanted to highlight three Black British female STEMM (Science, Technoloy, Engineering, Maths and Medicine) superstars. In their respective fields, these women are trailblazers who have not only achieved exceptional levels of success, but have also made it their life’s work to help and inspire the next generations.
