One Woman's Journey From Seeking Asylum To Campaigning For Election To Scottish Parliament

Nadia Kanyange lives in Glasgow, holds a Society, Politics and Policy BA (Hons) degree and is mother to a 16-year-old boy. She is originally from Burundi and, like me, she came to the UK to seek asylum. As Nadia tells me her story, I am drawn in. In the mist of the hardships she faced – the language barrier, the fear, the racism – she made a future for herself. She is a role model for me, for other black women in Scotland, and most of all, for asylum-seeking women.
