As soon as I enter the room, Adura’s warm greeting is accompanied by a proud confession – she’s been a dedicated Black Ballad subscriber for quite some time. It’s a moment of shared enthusiasm, setting the tone for a candid and deeply engaging conversation that will explore her remarkable debut feature film, Girl.
Congratulations are certainly in order for the actor, writer, and director, who has had a whirlwind week leading up to the 67th BFI London Film Festival. Just the night before, Adura graced the screening and participated in a Q&A session for her film at the Curzon Soho Cinema.
Girl made its debut at the renowned Sundance Film Festival in January and has since been featured at various other film festivals. Notably, it opened this year’s Glasgow Film Festival, where Adura has been residing for over a decade and where the film was also shot.
