Eni Aluko already knows what you think about her. The former professional footballer, football executive, broadcaster and investor knows that people assume she’s a Tory, think she’s entitled, or the MBE after her name means that she’s sold out.
She knows all of this because she has frank conversations with her friends and family members about it, and, of course, she sees what is said about her on social media every time a podcast interview gets clipped and shared – causing even Guardian columnists to add their two pence to the “What’s wrong with Eni Aluko?” train.
“Are you sure you want to profile her for BB?” was a question a family member asked me when I told them that I was preparing for this interview, concerned about the ire that Aluko seems to draw from mainstream media whenever she opens her mouth.
