Hairstylist & BBC Leicester Broadcaster Aminata Kamara On Her Creative Journey So Far & Seeing Value In What You Do

When Aminata Kamara has a idea, she makes it happen. Which is what has taken her on a creative journey that started in the theatre and has brought her to her current twin careers as broadcaster at BBC Leicester and hairstylist.

It was an idea around black women and representation that saw her approach photographer Henry Robinson to co-creatively direct a shoot that celebrates the beauty, grace and vulnerability of black women. Something that is reflected in her own journey as a creative in the British entertainment industry.

After time away from the professional hairdressing game, it was being made redundant in an admin role that saw Aminata return to the salon under the name ROY Beauty. Little did she know at the time, but this would set her on the path to being a session hairstylist, working on beauty and fashion campaigns, styling celebrities and models, with the next London Fashion Week firmly in her sights.
