Aml Ameen Talks Kidulthood Reunion, The Netflix Revolution & Missing London

On a sunny Saturday evening, I prepare myself to call Aml who is all the way in LA. After a few blunders with getting the time difference right (we’re eight hours ahead of California, not seven) our conversation begins.

He’s an easy going guy who’s passionate about his work, focused on achieving his goals, and still listens to afrobeats despite being in sunny LA. Aml is an artist who is enthusiastic about acting in, and creating more narratives for people of colour in the UK. He understands the importance of art, especially cinema, and how it is a powerful tool that can be used to speak to viewers and be a platform the unites people from a variety of cultures.

We talk about the rise of Netflix, Sense8, the importance of art to culture, and what it’s like working with the Wachowskis and George Lucas.
