The FIRE Method: Could Investing Well Get You To Early Retirement?

Personal finance is a journey that’s unique to all of us. While financial literacy and discipline determine the direction that we go in, people’s mindsets are fast evolving, with them looking at the purpose of work in a different light and placing great emphasis on their time freedom. Taking action to release them from the conventional cycle of endlessly working to retire only at 66 years old, people are joining the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement.

A concept that originated in the United States, FIRE is a financial strategy that focuses on aggressive saving (50-75% of a monthly salary) and investing, to achieve financial freedom decades earlier than traditionally expected. Amongst the people who have adopted an alternative way of living in order to retire early is a Black British woman that reached her goal before the age of 40.
