Almost eight years ago, my husband and I were deep in wedding planning mode—excited, in love and full of big dreams. But as we sat down to talk wedding budgets, expectations and the reality of what we could actually afford, we quickly realised something: we had no idea what we were doing.

We weren’t reckless spenders; we were just two people trying to build a life together without a blueprint. So, we did what many couples do – we figured it out as we went along.
