For the last few years, I have taken it upon myself to reframe my perspective on breakups. Instead of the usual saddened expressions, awkward silences, or the perfunctory “sorry to hear that” that often feels hollow and unhelpful, I’ve decided to rewrite the narrative overall. Now, I lean into offering heartfelt “congratulations” instead.

It may sound unconventional, even radical, to some ears, but the truth is that all breakups — including divorces — are rarely trivial decisions. They are born not out of whimsy but from a crucible of pain, where shards of a fractured life glint alongside a fragile, luminous hope for something better, something truer.
