“I’m a big fan of black girls’ bodies,” he said.
I’d already regretted swiping right.
I called him out on this because:
(a) I am more than just a body – he was a fan of his perceived notion of what my body should look like, a ‘fan’ of an object to be possessed
(b) I am a woman, not a girl – I find being called a girl by white men specifically very uncomfortable
(c) black women are not homogeneous – and there is no one black woman’s body that we all have
(d) Where’s the hello?
