The Cost of Living Crisis
How Black Women Are Navigating The Cost of Living Crisis
If you’re looking at your budget and realising that the “math ain’t mathin’”, you are far from alone.
The UK is in the depth of a cost of living crisis that does not appear to be letting up any time soon and feels like it's hitting our communities the hardest.
Data from Black Ballad's December 2023 Reader’s Survey shows that Black women were more likely to rank “the cost of living” as the most important national or global issue for them. “Affordable housing / housing crisis” was considered third most important out of a list of 15 issues.
Over 60% of Black women agreed with the statement “I could afford a more comfortable lifestyle 6 months ago”, while 36% of Black women said that they had a plan to adapt their standard of living, but weren't confident in it (Cost of living survey, Black Ballad, 2023).
Whether you're looking for practical ideas or just looking for reassurance that it's not just you facing these financially precarious times, keep scrolling for articles on budgeting, the housing crisis, the “Black tax” and so much more...
