Throughout her 13-year nursing career, Teresa has worked within many departments. She began in Accident and Emergency at a major London hospital, progressed to Deputy Lead Heart Failure Specialist Nurse at Homerton, and is now a part-time Advanced Nurse Practitioner in General Practice.
Nursing was always something Teresa Tan was going to fall into as a career. Her brother, who has severe autism and ADHD, was the first person that she became a carer for at a young age.
“Looking after him nurtured my desire to protect and care for others,” Teresa says. “Initially, I applied to study medicine, but just before starting, I felt a calling to nursing within the NHS.”
