For many Black British women, a powerful pull exists between the UK and the continent of their heritage. While the UK may offer familiarity, a growing number are seeking a different kind of success – one built on their own terms and fuelled by a deep connection to Africa.
These women left the UK to build thriving businesses in Africa.
Nadia Takyiwaa-Mensah
Nadia was on her way to work when she says the Holy Spirit prompted her, “You can’t do this for the rest of your life.” Despite achieving all markers of success in the Western world by the age of 27, Nadia thirsted for her life’s purpose.
In 2009, during her maternity leave, Nadia traveled to Ghana with her four-month-old son. She felt a profound sense of belonging. Nadia established her marketing agency, Sixth Sense Manifesto, in Ghana and within three weeks, she secured her first client before Vodafone Ghana approached her shortly after.
