Black Palestinian Women Are Fighting For Their Lives While The World Acts Like They Don’t Exist

Nada Almsharfa, a 14-year-old Afro-Palestinian girl living in Gaza, blames anti-Blackness for her 16-year-old brother’s death last year.

Since 2023, Nada and her family of eight have been sheltering in a school alongside other displaced Palestinians following the devastation caused by the war.

Nada says that while some Palestinians around them receive regular financial support from international charities and donors, her family struggles to raise enough money to meet their basic needs.

As a result, her two brothers, Mahmoud and Abd, were often forced to travel long distances to food distribution sites, where starving Palestinians seeking aid have repeatedly been killed.
