Simone Biles Isn't The Only Black Woman Trying To Manage Her Hair & An Active Lifestyle

From braids to bussdowns, hairstyles are one of the key ways we express ourselves as Black women. But with it being Olympics season, the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, Simone Biles, touched on how being so active uniquely affects Black hair.

In her Instagram Story, she told critics, “don’t come for me” as she explained her hair was previously done but the hot temperature affected that.

“IT WAS DONE but bus has no AC and it’s like 9,000 degrees. Oh and a 45-minute ride,” she wrote on her Story.

The Olympic medalist has received criticism in the past about her hair, with many labelling it with the tired “unkempt” trope. But Biles hasn’t let it phase her. In the same series of Instagram Stories, the gymnast wrote: “Next time you wanna comment on a Black girl’s hair. JUST DON’T.”
