Moving To Luton Killed My Spirit But Strengthened My Ambition

Personal development guru, Jim Rohn once said “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. It was a massive culture shock for me getting thrown into a new school at the age of nine. I went from being in a majority black classroom to a minority black classroom. The transition from London to Luton was distressing and tragic. I was more or less forced to say goodbye to the friends that I grew up playing with. It was the toughest with my best friend who lived right opposite to me, and as I packed the last bag into the boot of the car and made my way to the seat at the back, I looked at her to wave goodbye and we both cried. We knew the distance was about to cut our bond. I felt anger towards my mother at this point. Little did I know life was about to change and that this push was exactly what I needed to reinvent myself and level up in life.
