Since the announcement of Prince Harry’s engagement to actress, Meghan Markle the public have displayed a fairly mixed response to his black bride. Although Meghan is mixed race (of African American and Dutch, English and Irish descent) and identifies as such herself, the comments, whether they’re jokes or otherwise, centring around her race and Prince Harry’s supposed preference for women of colour, have made the opportunity of being awarded the title of ‘black by association’ even more simple.
