Let's Bust Myths About HIV

According to the World Health Organization there are still are still a staggering 36.7 million people living with HIV/AIDS globally. Black women from BAME communities make-up 80% of people accessing HIV services in the UK. Although not all reasons for these health inequities are clear, both socio-economic disadvantage and lack of awareness are known to be factors. 

Some of us were old enough to remember the fear surrounding HIV as it began to affect some of the most vulnerable communities during the eighties, robbing people of their partners, parents, and children. Even fewer of us remember the shame associated with what then embarrassingly named GRID (Gay Related Immunodeficiency Disease).
