Guest Editor's Letter: How Anger Can Be A Liberating Emotion For Black Women

Imagine this: I’m at an event and somebody walks up to me with a massive smile on their face as they tell me how much they love my tweets and everything I stand for. I smile back because it is always a great feeling to know that the work I do is appreciated. The smile remains plastered on my face but my eyes have glazed over. Why? Because this person continues by telling me how much they sing my praises to their friends/partner/family members and they’re still trying to convince them that I’m not “the angry lady.”

This scenario happens to me so much that I’ve stopped counting.

I am constantly reminded in a myriad of ways that for every person who loves what I stand for, there is another person who can’t seem to get past my anger.
